What is Spotlings?
Spotlings is a cozy logic puzzle for iPhone. Each level is a small board split into coloured homes, and your job is to find the one spot where each pet lives. Every puzzle has exactly one answer that you can reach by logic alone, no guessing needed. Win boards to earn points, open capsules and collect new pets, then see how far you get in the Game Center rankings.
How to play
- Put one pet in every row, every column and every coloured home.
- Pets never touch, not even corner to corner (diagonally).
- Tap a tile to mark it with an โ (no pet here). Tap an โ again to take it away.
- Double-tap a tile to place a pet there.
- You have 3 hearts. Placing a pet in the wrong spot costs a heart. Lose all three and the board is over, but you can try again.
- Hints: stuck? Tap the bulb. A hint shows the next logical step and explains why. You get a free hint every day.
You can also turn on Auto โ in Settings: after each correct pet, the tiles it rules out are marked for you.
Questions
I reinstalled the game and lost my progress. Can I get it back?
Your progress (levels, stars and pets) is saved only on your phone. There are no accounts and no cloud save, so we have no copy we could restore. Deleting the app deletes your progress with it.
If you restore your whole iPhone from a backup (iCloud or a computer) that was made before you deleted the game, your progress may come back with it.
How do I restore purchases?
If Spotlings offers purchases, you can open Settings in the game and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account you used to buy. Purchases are handled by Apple, so for billing questions or refunds please use Apple's Report a Problem page.
How do I turn off the daily reminder?
The daily reminder is off unless you turn it on. To turn it off again, open Settings in the game and switch off Daily reminder. You can also turn off notifications for Spotlings in your iPhone's Settings app, under Notifications. The reminder is a single note a day at 7 pm, set up on your phone.
How do Game Center rankings and my avatar work?
Spotlings uses Apple's Game Center for its rankings. You are ranked by the highest level you have won, and there is also a list for pets collected. Other players see your Game Center nickname, your score and the pet you chose as your avatar, never a photo.
To change your avatar, open the rankings screen and pick a different pet. Game Center keeps only your best score, so other players see your new avatar after you win your next new level (your own row shows it straight away).
The Friends list only works if you allow Spotlings to see your Game Center friends; iOS asks you the first time. You can sign out of Game Center or change friends access in your iPhone's Settings app, under Game Center. The game works fine without Game Center.
Which pets show up on the board?
Boards use the pets you have collected, mixed at random, and trying a level again brings a new mix. Each coloured home has one pet, but it stays a surprise (a question mark) until you find its spot. You start with the one pet you pick, so early boards repeat it; every new pet from a capsule joins your boards.
How do capsules work?
Winning boards earns points. When the points meter is full, you open a capsule with a new pet inside. Common pets come most often, rare pets less often, and super rare pets are the hardest to find. The capsule's colour shows its rarity: pastel for common, purple for rare, gold for super rare.
- No duplicates: a capsule always holds a pet you don't have yet.
- Pure chance: there is no trick and no guarantee. Once you own every pet of one rarity, the next capsules come from the rarities you still need.
- Never sold: capsules and points can only be earned by playing. They are never sold for money.
I found a bug or a puzzle seems wrong.
Please email us (address below) with the level number, what happened, and your iPhone model and iOS version if you know them. A screenshot helps a lot.
